I tried to test out the MYSQL Connection after a failed insertion of code, even though the code is correct cos it was inserted using the same exact method.
Last time, I was using a lower MYSQL version and had no problem with the timeZone and connectivity issue.
So, now the test Connection via Eclipse data explorer gave me an error message :
Could not connect to New MySQL.
Error creating SQL Model Connection connection to New MySQL. (Error: The server time zone value 'Malay Peninsula Standard Time' is unrecognized or represents more than one time zone. You must configure either the server or JDBC driver (via the serverTimezone configuration property) to use a more specifc time zone value if you want to utilize time zone support.)

Here's the setting the code for MYSQL connection:
public static final String URL ='jdbc:mysql://localhost/project?autoReconnect=true&serverTimezone=UTC&useSSL=False&allowPublicKeyRetrieval=true';
I have put in the correct MYSQL Connection driver :
mysqlconnector-java-driver-8.0.12.jar

I have
UTC
time zone set in my PostgreSQL and SELECT NOW()
shows me the right date in psql
console. I use PHPStorm for development and its database console for accessing my database, but it uses different time zone (Europe/Moscow, which is the time zone of my Mac), and
SELECT NOW()
shows me the time in this time zone (and by the way, the date is wrong, because the Europe/Moscow time zone recently changed its offset to +3
from +4
).I have not found any information on how to tell PHPStorm to use the time zone configured in
postgresql.conf
instead of system's time zone. Is it possible?verify your timezone with query
now add phpstorm.vmoptions the config off timezone

This problem I never had in older PhpStorm versions Setting the serverTIMEZONE value to 'UTC' worked perfectly in Create a data source Create a DB data source from database files. If database files are in your project folder, open the Project tool window. Otherwise, open your file manager. Open the Database tool window (View | Tool Windows | Database). Select the files that you want to use as data sources and drag them to the Database tool window. A separate data source is created for each file.
Well, I've found a solution, but it will affect every time-specific behavior in IDE, e.g. console logs will show datetime in UTC.
The idea is to pass a timezone to VM options. For that we need to modify a file and restart IDE.
For Mac OS X for the latest version of PHPStorm:
Then add

After phpstorm.vmoptions file modification with

Only adding a variable

value to Advanced tab of connection without any phpstorm.vmoptions changes helped me to return correct timezone from the table.Documentation link: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/phpstorm/2016.1/data-sources-and-drivers-dialog.html#advancedTab
DataGrip FAQ – IDEs Support (IntelliJ Platform), in other IDEs from JetBrains like IntelliJ IDEA, PhpStorm, PyCharm, RubyMine, DataGrip can connect to any database which has a JDBC-driver. Go to Advanced tab of datasource and put -Duser.timezone=UTC into VM options field. Is there a way to share data sources from DataGrip to other IDEs? Alternatively, you can specify user drivers for the data source. For more information about user drivers, see Add a user driver to an existing connection. Specify database connection details. Alternatively, paste the JDBC URL in the URL field.
